Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Download.ru service ("Service"). By registering or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About Download.ru

Download.ru is a cloud platform for file storage, processing, and sharing. The Service provides:

File storage with automatic preview generation (images, video, PDF, office documents).
Antivirus scanning of uploaded files.
File sharing via link, with password protection and expiration.
WebDAV access (mount as a network drive).
REST API for integration with external applications.
Mobile app for iOS and Android with automatic photo sync.
Desktop screenshot app for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Client-side file encryption (E2E) — encrypted file contents are inaccessible to the server.

2. Your Account

2.1. Registration

Registration is required for full use of the Service. You may register with an email address or via a third-party OAuth provider (Google, VK, Yandex, and others). You agree to provide accurate information.

2.2. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password and account access. If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password immediately and contact us at support@download.ru.

2.3. Anonymous Use

The Service allows file uploads without registration. Files uploaded anonymously have a limited retention period (7 days) and volume restrictions (500 MB, up to 50 files). After the retention period expires, files are deleted automatically and permanently.

2.4. One User, One Account

Creating multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits is prohibited. The Service reserves the right to merge or block such accounts.

3. Plans and Payment

3.1. Plans

The Service offers a free plan with basic features and limited storage, as well as paid plans with expanded capabilities. Current terms and pricing are published on the pricing page.

3.2. Payment

Paid plans are billed in rubles (RUB). We accept MIR, Visa, and Mastercard. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the billing period.

3.3. Refunds

Refunds for unused subscription periods are not provided. You may cancel your subscription at any time — access to paid features will continue until the end of the current billing period.

3.4. Pricing Changes

The Service reserves the right to change plan terms and pricing. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days in advance. If the new terms are unacceptable, you may cancel your subscription.

4. Acceptable Use

By using the Service, you agree not to:

Upload, store, or distribute materials that violate applicable laws or the rights of third parties (copyright, trademarks, right of publicity).
Upload malware, viruses, or automated data harvesting scripts.
Use the Service for phishing, fraud, spam, or any other illegal activity.
Attempt unauthorized access to Service infrastructure, accounts, or data of other users.
Create excessive load on Service infrastructure (automated mass uploads, DDoS attacks).
Resell access to the Service or use it to provide storage services to third parties without written consent.

The Service reserves the right to remove materials that violate these rules and to block offending accounts without prior notice.

5. Your Files and Data

5.1. Content Ownership

You retain all rights to your uploaded files. The Service does not claim intellectual property rights over your content. By uploading files, you grant the Service a limited right to process them solely for the purpose of providing the service (preview generation, antivirus scanning, format conversion, storage, and delivery).

5.2. Client-Side Encryption (E2E)

When using E2E encryption, files are encrypted on your device before being sent to the server. The encryption key is stored only by you. The Service has no technical ability to access the contents of encrypted files. This means that if you lose your encryption password, file recovery is impossible.

5.3. Antivirus Scanning

All uploaded files are automatically scanned by an antivirus engine (ClamAV). Files containing malicious code may be deleted without notice. Antivirus scanning does not guarantee detection of all threats.

5.4. Storage and Deletion

Files of registered users are stored indefinitely within the selected plan. Deleted files are moved to the trash and kept for 7 to 90 days depending on the plan, after which they are permanently removed from storage.

5.5. Backups

The Service is not a backup solution. We recommend keeping backup copies of important files outside the Service. The Service is not liable for data loss for any reason.

6. API and Integrations

6.1. REST API

The Service provides a REST API for programmatic access to file storage and management. API usage is governed by plan limits (request count, bandwidth, number of API keys).

6.2. OAuth 2.0

The Service is an OAuth 2.0 provider. Third-party applications may request access to a user's files with their explicit consent. Users may revoke third-party access at any time in account settings.

6.3. WebDAV

WebDAV access is provided according to the user's plan. The free plan allows read-only access; paid plans provide full access.

7. Mobile App and Screenshot Tool

7.1. Mobile App

The Download.ru mobile app is available for iOS and Android. The app uses OAuth 2.0 for authorization and works with the same storage as the web version. The automatic photo sync feature requires permission to access the device's photo library.

7.2. Screenshot Tool

The desktop screenshot application is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Screenshots are automatically uploaded to the user's account. The application runs in the system tray and requires screen recording permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

The Service does not guarantee:

Uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Data preservation under all circumstances.
Compatibility with all devices, browsers, and operating systems.
Detection of all viruses and malware.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service's liability is limited to the amount paid by the user in the preceding 12 months. The Service is not liable for indirect, incidental, or punitive damages.

9. Termination

9.1. By You

You may delete your account at any time via profile settings or by emailing support@download.ru. See the Data Deletion page for details.

9.2. By the Service

The Service reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access without prior notice in the event of:

Violation of these Terms.
Use of the Service for illegal activities.
Threats to the security of infrastructure or other users.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms. For material changes, we will notify you by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
